There are certain companies to send it through that won't open it and sell what's inside 🙃 gotta love Brasil)

OIIIII!!! what's up party people?!

So, yes, I'M IN BRASIL.

Yes, it's hot.

Yes, it's crazy difficult.

Yes, I've cried almost everyday.

Yes, it's been a crazy ride.

Yes, (I think) I'm enjoying it.

Haha I am enjoying it but it's ROUGH right now.

Weekly lights!:

- last week at the MTC was the best

- saying see ya later to my mtc district was the worst thing.

- saying see ya later to my mtc teachers was the worst thing.

- SEEING MELE FO FELE AT THE AIRPORT WAS THE BEST THING

- being in a strange airport without a phone is a strange experience

- Elder heath losing his passport in the São Paulo airport (he did find it, but MAD SCARY.)

- meeting another Sister Peterson !

- meeting our President and assistants!

- listening to a concert happening right down the road from our hotel

- pizza here is strange

- juice here slaps like 75% of the time

- having the same thing for lunch 4 days in a row

- having açaí 10/10 recommend

- literally EVERYONE knowing Irmão Hill and Irmão Bennett. (these guys are legends)

- meeting my trainer Sister Barros! She's from para Brasil! She doesn't know English, which is MAD ROUGH but we're teaching each other English and português!

- saying boa sorte to Elder Van Tassell 👎

- having soup when it's 80 degrees outside

- having lunch with members AND speaking Spanish with them !!

- having district meeting!

-finding out my district leader and his companion AND another Sister in my district são de US!

- calling said sister every night asking how she did this

- finding out that our zone leaders are from the US também!

- talking with said zone leaders in English for almost an hour on Friday night

- talking with said zone leader about cars 3 being kinda a let down ://

- giving the closing prayer in sacrament meeting

- witnessing a brigar turn into a lutar real fast

Gotta brag about my district and teachers real quick. WE GOT BLESSED SO HARD WITH OUR DISTRICT AND TEACHERS. God puts specific people in your life for specific reasons. You may not know the reasons then, but trust me, you need it. These people all made me a better person, better missionary, and better disciple of Jesus Cristo. Irmã Arnett and Irmão Hill have a gift. They knew exactly what we needed to know and how they could best teach it. (Even if wr went off book a little bit ;))

Now to my district: you guys made the MTC not only tolerable, but MAIS DIVERTIDO. I will hold onto those memories forever. (And to the quotes I have in my quote book, let me know if you want to partake of that goodness ;)) you are all wonderful people. You are all AMAZING missionaries. I love you all and know you will change so many lives like you changed mine!

KACHOW MOMENT OF THE WEEK:

this is small but it meant a lot. So there is a girl in our ward who was baptized about a year ago. (She was actually baptized by our zone leader in his first transfer!) Her parents however are not members. They aren't *legally married either. On Friday, we went to their house to teach. Sister Barros showed a video about God's plan for us. It was in Portuguese, I understood next to nothing. If it wasn't for the pictures, I don't think I would've understood anything. After the video Arionaldo, the father, started to tear up and asked how to get married on paper so him and his wife could be baptized.

Now it took me a while to understand this, but the spirit was so strong! We are helping them get married this week and hopefully on date for baptism next week!

This past week has been super rough. I will not sugar coat it. I thought I knew how to speak phrases simples in português but man was I wrong. I came in with the thought that I could do this. I could thrive, not only survive.

MAN ALIVE. this last week has been ALL SURVIVING AND NO THRIVING. though I've learned, through the wisdom of my district leader, zone leaders, Sister Doherty, and Chrispy (meu Pai), this is the time that I get to be closest to the Savior. I get to rely on Him the most right now, when I don't understand anything, when I don't know where we are or where we are going.

I get to not only take part of His work out here, but I feel that I get to feel closer to Him because of how much He suffered for me. I know He felt this way so I get to lean on Him through this.

I am not saying that I am suffering anywhere near the amount of suffering that Christ endured, and never will come close. I am grateful for His sacrifice and for this experience I have to feel close to Him.

I had one experience when I was practicing the Restoration and I was giving the primeira visão and I started to cry. I'm not sure if it was from the Spirit or the ptsd of reciting it a million times over the past month. (Love you irmã Arnett and Irmão hill) Then I said it during the actual lesson, and I cried then too. That time I knew it was the Spirit. I know that this Gospel is the one and only church on the earth with the fullness of the restored Gospel. EU AMO ISSO!!

This week has been one for the books. I'm super excited for this next week and the fun surprises it will bring!

Prayers for this week:

- my mtc district and my transition into mission life

- aabrão to have faith and the desire to be baptized!

- my stomach... comida de Brasil não bom para isso

I thank you for your prayers, I feel them everyday.

How has everyone's week been?!  My subject line is kindly brought to you by Elder Van Tassel and my quote book.  This week's spiritual thought is brought to you by my own stubbornness and President M. Russel Ballard.  Flashback to before I got my mission call. I was so excited to go and serve! I had a sure feeling that I was going to South America, you could ask anyone, I knew I was going to South America. However, I thought I would be Spanish speaking. I had a background in Spanish and am minoring in it at school and overall just love the language. Then I got called to the only country in South America that doesn't speak Spanish. I was in shock for a while which ...
